ABOUT

Ashley Boon is an award-winning wildlife artist, whose stunning sketches and watercolours celebrate the natural world in all its dramatic beauty.

Ashley’s childhood in rural Northamptonshire fed his early passion for the outdoors – and, having developed a love of art at school, he sold his first wildlife painting at the age of 14.

Since then Ashley has travelled extensively, from the Arctic Circle to southern Africa and many places in between, in order to draw and paint birds and wildlife.
Africa remains his first love, however, and having made his first trip to Botswana in 1999 he has returned on many occasions to joint-lead safaris, and has spent many days studying and sketching native species in the bush. As well as Botswana, he also leads tours to India and other countries.

“As the subject moves and busies itself with feeding, preening or resting I become absorbed with the view through my telescope,” he says. “The big game is always exciting, but it is the birdlife that draws me back to Africa again and again.”

Ashley now lives in Geltsdale in rural Cumbria.
